Quartz
Why choose quartz worktops?
Natural quartz crystals bound with resin and pigment, pressed into slabs. Engineered, so the pattern is designed rather than found, and it repeats predictably across a whole kitchen.
Nothing soaks in
The surface is non-porous, so wine, oil and coffee sit on it. There is no sealer to apply and none to forget.
What you choose is what arrives
Slabs are made to a recipe, so the worktop matches the one you chose and a second slab matches the first. That matters on a long run or an island plus a back run.
Hard wearing
Quartz sits near the top of the hardness scale, so ordinary kitchen use does not dull it. Use a board anyway, to protect the knife.
Know before you buy
Heat is the weak point, and it is the resin rather than the quartz. A pan straight off the hob can leave a dull mark or a scorch that does not come out, so a trivet is not optional. Prolonged direct sunlight can also shift the colour over years, which is why quartz is an indoor surface.
Looking after quartz
Warm water and washing-up liquid. Nothing abrasive, nothing bleach-based, and a trivet under anything hot.
Questions
Quartz worktops, answered.
Do quartz worktops need sealing?
Never. Warm water and washing-up liquid. Nothing abrasive, nothing bleach-based, and a trivet under anything hot.
Can you put a hot pan on a quartz worktop?
No, the resin can scorch. Heat is the weak point, and it is the resin rather than the quartz. A pan straight off the hob can leave a dull mark or a scorch that does not come out, so a trivet is not optional. Prolonged direct sunlight can also shift the colour over years, which is why quartz is an indoor surface.
How much do quartz worktops cost?
It depends on the stone, the thickness, the size of the kitchen and the cut-outs for the sink and hob. Send us a photo or your measurements and we come back with a written quote for the whole kitchen, supplied and fitted. The quote is free.
Do you fit quartz worktops in London?
Yes. We measure, cut and fit with our own team, and our showroom is at 20A Western Avenue, London W3. Leave your number and we call you to talk it through.
Can I see a quartz worktop on a kitchen before I choose?
Yes. Every one of our 176 quartz stones can be tried in the worktop visualiser, on the run, the splashback, the island and a waterfall end.
